The Ghost Of Goddard’s Squadron

This intriguing photo, taken in 1919, was first published in 1975 by Sir Victor Goddard, a retired R.A.F. officer.

One of the most famous photos still circulating, and promoted as a legitimate piece of photographic evidence for ghosts, is the photo now known as 'The Ghost Of Goddard’s Squadron'. The photo itself dates back to the end of World War I and shows a group of military personnel standing for a squadron portrait. But according to the tale attached to the image, one extra person managed to appear in the image, but he'd been dead for a few days.

The 'man' appearing in the back of the photo, is allegedly the spirit of a dead comrade named 'Freddy Jackson'. Jackson was an air mechanic, who was accidentally killed by an air-plane propeller a few days earlier. His funeral had actually taken place on the day of the photograph. Members of the squadron claim that they easily recognised the face as Jackson's.

It has been suggested that Jackson -unaware of his own death- decided to show up for the group photo.

The Wheelchair Ghost - (The Nursing Home Ghost)

November 23rd, 2012. An employee at 'Kith Haven Assisted Living' is working in the basement, going from room to room. When suddenly, something catches her eye.

The employee is said to have witnessed 'The Wheelchair Ghost' with her own eyes. As she caught sight of the ghost, she stepped back from the room she was in, only to notice that the ghost was still there, and stayed put long enough for her to grab her phone, and snap this picture. Looking at the photo, you can clearly make out a man in a white shirt who looks like he's sitting down, we can only assume in a wheel chair.

Some people claim that it looks more like a man pushing a woman, with her arms crossed over her chest. Could this be a patient that passed away in the centre, or maybe a caregiver, still on the job?

Robert A. Ferguson Ghost Photo

This photo -taken November 16, 1968- shows Robert A. Ferguson, author of Psychic Telemetry: New Key to Health, Wealth, and Perfect Living, giving a speech at a Spiritualist convention in Los Angeles, California. It was only after the photo had been processed, that a faint figure was shown appearing next to Ferguson.

He later identified the figure to be his brother, Walter, who died in 1944 during World War II. At first glance, this may look like a double exposure or some kind of darkroom trickery, but this photo is a Polaroid -one of several taken of Ferguson at the time- making any kind of trickery quite unlikely.

Lord Combermere Ghost

During 1891, this photograph was taken of the library in Combermere Abbey, in 1891. Looking closely at the chair, you can see a faint figure of a man. His head, collar and right arm on the armrest can be clearly made out. This is said to be the ghost of Lord Combermere.

The second Viscount Lord Combermere died in 1891. He was struck by one of the first electrically powered motor cabs, in London. While Sybell Corbet -Lady Combermere's sister- was taking the above photograph, the funeral of 'Lord Combermere' was taking place, over four miles away. Parapsychologist Sir William Barrett investigated the photograph in 1895, and surmised that the "ghost" was possibly a servant.

This theory, however, was later tested by the viscount's daughter-in-law, who stated that the male servants in the house were all much younger in appearance, and the outside servants were attending the funeral.

House Fire Ghost

This piece of evidence, known as the 'House Fire Ghost', was captured by a firefighter, from Gary, Indiana

While waiting on his partners to grab and unravel the hose, this firefighter took to snapping some photos of the scene, to record the blaze. He took to Facebook, and posted the photos he had recently taken, for everyone to view. Upon posting these photos however, he was over come with notifications from his friends, family and colleagues, who had noticed something strange with one of the photos.

If you look at the photo, there appears to be a dark apparition in the left window, seemingly engulfed by the flames. Since this has been pointed out, people have noticed another figure or two in the doorway and other window – but it is the left window figure that is the most noticeable. There has been varied responses that the fire was simply a training exercise set on an old abandoned property, or just a vacant house going up in flames... still, vacant homes can still hold 'occupiers'.

Was the ghost captured in this photo, possibly a past owner of the property?
