DO NOT DO VOICE RECORDING OF THIS PART Snake's are wonders of nature, they exist with no legs, but evidence of evolution can be seen with very small back leg stumps along some male spines, and have become one of the most feared animals on the planet. There is little wonder when you see what some species are capable of in this video. From constriction, to huge teeth and injecting deadly venom into their prey, snakes are one of the most astute predators alive today. This is the top 10 deadliest snakes in the world.

The Belcher's Sea Snake

Most of the things you conjure up in your mind, when thinking of things in the sea that will kill you, begin with s and end in hark. With their rows of razor teeth its easy to see why they're scary but this guy is even more terrifying. The Belcher's Sea Snake is extremely territorial, and around a quarter are highly venomous, and that venom is the most concentrated on the entire planet.

If just 1 milligram was dropped into a water supply, it could kill thousands of humans. It is, therefore, the most poisonous snake in the world. Even though most are harmless, are you going to take that chance?

The Black Mamba

Another snake with a famous name, the Black Mamba is well known around the world. A single bit can kill over 10 people, and while that isn't the most potent on our list, you're still not going to want to take a bite from one of these guys. To add to its all round terror, it can move at 20 km/h, the fastest snake on the globe.

The Black Mamba will bite a number of times when it attacks, and if the bite is not treated, it is almost always going to result in death.

The Blue Krait

This snake is not as well known as some, but its venom is 16 times more potent than that of the cobra! There also is no really good antivenin to use, which makes it quite deadly. The Blue Krait tends to keep to itself and usually only comes out at night, though, so it is generally easy to avoid.

The Death Adder

Legend states that Cleopatra used a Death Adder to kill herself and here it is in all its glory. They are usually fond around Australia regions. Their bite can cause paralysis, respiratory arrest and death within just 6 hours. You must get fast treatment if bitten by one of these, as 50% of bites are fatal.

They are one of the few species that preys on other snakes making them cannibals too. They don't get any more likeable, do they?

The Eastern Brown Snake

The Eastern Brown Snake is mean, as mean as anything on this planet. You've heard stories of why living in Australia is a mistake because of all the crazy animals, well this guy is one of them. To make it worse, it is known to live in cities as well as the rural wilds. They're highly territorial and if you step onto its turf it will actively chase you away! If the snake is not confident of its safety, it may decide to bite. If it does so, it may bite many times during a single attack. Less than half contain venom, but those that do can cause paralysis or death. Because of its proximity to population centres and its aggression, you could argue the Eastern Brown Snake is the most dangerous snake in the world.

When it believes its in danger, the snake will lash out, several times in one strike, but lucky only half contain venom. It's only lucky to an extent as those can cause paralysis and death from bites.

The Inland Taipan

The Inland Taipan isn't a widely known species of snake, but that doesn't mean it should be written off. There may be a snake out there that can kill thousands with just a few drops, and the Taipan might only be able to reach 100s with its venom, but that isn't something to scoff at.

Just take a look at what it can do if a bit isn't treat quick enough! Taipans usually avoid human contact, however, and you are unlikely to ever encounter one. Lucky us.

The Philippine Cobra

This snake is easily spotted because of its wide neck collar. While cobras inspire fear, most types of cobras don’t even make this list. The Philippine Cobra, however, does. It doesn’t even have to bite you to poison you.

All it has to do is spit, and it can do that from 3 meters away and still hit you. Paralysis from the venom can cause death within thirty minutes.

The Eastern Diamond Back Rattlesnake

The rattlesnake is one of the world's most instant recognisable snakes. The distinct tail shaking and noise is probably what most think of when they imagine a snake. The rattlesnake is a form of viper, with their name coming from their tail which is used to warn of any would be attackers.

The eastern diamond back is the most poisonous species of rattlesnakes. The good news is there is hope for those bitten who get prompt treatment. The venom can cause permanent organ damage and even need amputating if left untreated.

Saw Scaled Viper

This viper is usually found in the Far East and Middle East, and generally comes out after dark. The main danger with this creature is that the venom is so slow-acting that a victim may make the mistake of waiting too long to seek treatment.

Treatment can prevent death in the majority of cases, but without it, death will result slowly and painfully over the course of two to four weeks.

Tiger Snake

This snake is native to Australia and is recognisable because of it width and yellow bands. The bites are very accurate, and without treatment, will result in death nearly three quarters of the time.
